DPT Students Participitated in Walk to Defeat ALS on April 18, 2015

    Special thanks to eight (8) DPT students who formed a UMES ALS team, in an effort to raise funds for the Walk to Defeat ALS (sponsored by the ALS Association), held on Saturday, April 18, 2015 at the Winter place Park in Salisbury, Maryland.  The walk was one-hour in duration.  Team members were:  Nick Espinosa, Katie Hughes, Caitlin Murray, Maddi Lee, Miranda Nettey, Melissa Pollock, Tamar Sivaslian, and Matt Whaley.  In addition to team members, thanks to student volunteers:  Matt Lucas, Jessica Haaf, Pat Hillman, Matt Whaley (DPT Alumni), Mary Chenette, Brian Lloyd, Ray Mullen, Becky Brannock, Larry Holland, Trevor Hirsch, Adam Waggoner, Andrew Lim, and to DeAnna Hickman (DPT staff) for setting up the event website.  Dr. Michelle Gorman served as the event faculty advisor.  

    Through their combined efforts, $695.00 was raised to help victims of ALS (Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis – aka, Lou Gehrig’s Disease) -- a neurodegenerative disease that affects nerve cells in the central nervous system (brain and spinal cord).
