    Graduate Education Week 

    The Graduate Council's Research Committee at the University of Maryland Eastern Shore (UMES) invites you to its 3rd Annual Graduate Education Week, which will be held the week of  April 16, 2018 to April 20, 2018.  


    Symposium Invitation 

    The Graduate Council's Research Committee at the University of Maryland Eastern Shore (UMES) invites you to the 8th Annual Regional Research Symposium 2018.  This year Symposium 2018 is part of the Graduate Research Week, and will be held on Tuesday April 17, 2018.  

    Symposium Information 

    The symposium will present a forum to discuss research at regional universities, colleges and industry. Oral and poster presentations of research by students (graduate and undergraduate) and faculty will be featured. The best of each will receive awards.


    Symposium Registration

    Each person attending the conference must register for the conference separately. 

    All attendees must register in advance through the website to receive conference materials and meals.

    Presenters, judges, moderators, attendees, committee members and guests must register separately. 

    Registration is  CLOSED.

    Symposium Participant Registration Fee:  

    The registration fee is $50.00 per student for non-UMES students. The presenter (or advisor for student presentations) of each presentation should submit their abstract from the abstract submission page. 

    Each person attending must independently register. Registration includes the cost of conference registration, materials and meals.

    Submission of Abstracts: 

    Submitters are required to compose and present their abstracts, posters, and presentations as described in the instructions posted here. Please click here for instructions.  For Abstract submission Click Here

    Students:  Please note that your advisor MUST review and approve your abstract/presentation prior to submission.  Please allow them at minimum a week before the deadline to make changes.

    The presenter of each presentation/poster (or advisor for undergraduate student presentation/poster) must submit their abstract from the abstract submission page. 

    Once you are registered, you will receive an email with a link for submitting your abstracts. Please submit your abstracts from this link prior to the deadline.

    The deadline for submission of abstracts for oral and poster presentation competition is March 30, 2018 at 11:59 pm. 

    Exhibitor and External Sponsor Registration Fee:

    Exhibitors may register through the UMES Graduate Office.  Exhibitors and Sponsors may contact contact Mrs. Angela Young ( at 410-651-7966, Asst. Chairperson.  Exhibitor registration fee is $50.   Exhibitors will be provided space for the set-up of a skirted display table on Tuesday April 17, 2018 by 7:30 AM (registration opens). The deadline for advanced exhibitor registration is March 30, 2018 at 11:59 pm. Payments are accepted through our Credit Card Mail In Form. click here.

    Faculty Awards:

    Nominations are being accepted for Faculty Awards.  

    To nominate a faculty member for an award, please compose a letter stating Faculty Name, Title, Department and School. Please indicate the award for which you will nominate them and provide an explanation for why they deserve this award.   Click here to see the Description of the Awards.

    Please deliver your nomination to the School of Graduate Studies office in the Engineering and Aviation Sciences Complex, Suite 3046. Alternatively, you can email your nomination to Dr. LaKeisha Harris, Interim Dean at
