These committees meet on a regular basis and advise the University President, the Vice Presidents for Academic and Administrative Affairs,&nbsp;the Deans, Department Directors and Managers&nbsp;on matters related to their designated function.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-table\"><table><tbody><tr><td><strong>Health and Safety Committee<\/strong><\/td><td>The University of Maryland Eastern Shore is in the process of reestablishing this committee to support the University&#8217;s commitment to providing a safe, healthy, and compliant learning and working environment for all students, faculty, staff, and visitors. The committee consists of representatives from various campus departments. Once this committee is re-established this section will be updated accordingly.<\/td><\/tr><tr><td><strong>Institutional&nbsp;Biosafety&nbsp;Committee (IBC)<\/strong><\/td><td>The purpose of the IBC is to ensure a safe working environment for operations revolving around biological research while ensuring compliance with local, state, and federal requirements.&nbsp; The IBC registers and&nbsp;reviews research, and performs risk assessments in order to develop&nbsp;biosafety policies and procedures and to set containment levels that ensure the safety of UMES&#8217; employees and the surrounding community.&nbsp;&nbsp;More information will become available through an upcoming IBC website.<\/td><\/tr><tr><td><strong>Radiation Safety Committee (RSC)<\/strong><\/td><td>&nbsp;The University of Maryland Eastern Shore is in the process of reestablishing its RSC to support the University&#8217;s expanding research, instructional, and clinical programs. As the University continues to grow, including the anticipated needs of the School of Veterinary Medicine, the Committee will provide institutional oversight for the safe use of radioactive materials and radiation-producing equipment in accordance with applicable federal, state, and University requirements. Once the RSC is re-established this section will be updated. <\/td><\/tr><tr><td><strong>Recycling Committee<\/strong><\/td><td>The University of Maryland Eastern Shore is in the process of reestablishing this committee to support the University&#8217;s commitment to fostering long-term environmental stewardship and sustainability through an integrated recycling program. The committee consists of representatives from various campus departments. Once this committee is re-established this section will be updated accordingly<\/td><\/tr><\/tbody><\/table><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>EHS works closely with the following University committees.
