DESCRIPTION:\n\n\n\n\nFollow honey from the frame to the jar at this final summer beekeeping workshop offered by University of Maryland Eastern Shore Extension.\n\n\n\nJoin UMES beekeeper Stephen Goewey for a hands-on day of harvesting including pulling honey frames in the apiary\, prepping super and running a complete honey extraction line indoors (uncapping\, spinning\, bottling and labeling).\n\n\n\nThe workshop will be held from 9 a.m.-2 p.m. Saturday\, Aug. 29\, 2026\, at the apiary at UMES Research\, Extension and Teaching Farm in Princess Anne.\n\n\n\nYou will also take home a jar of honey that you bottled and labeled yourself.\n\n\n\nThe day also covers how to judge when honey is ready\, how much to leave the bees for winter\, and what Maryland law requires to sell honey (and what it doesn’t). Most importantly\, you'll learn how to prepare your hives for the winter ahead.\n\n\n\nThe cost of the workshop is $20 per person\, and lunch will be provided. Pre-registration is required.
