UMES ACS Project SEED 2021

  • ACS Project Seed LogoDelmarva high school students interested in pursuing a degree in chemistry-related majors can participate in the American Chemical Society’s Project SEED summer program.  The program offers participants who complete necessary requirements a $1,000 fellowship and the potential for an ACS scholarship covering the first year of college tuition.

Every summer since 2007, the University of Maryland Eastern Shore has partnered with ACS to offer local, ambitious, economically disadvantaged secondary students the opportunity to work in an academic, industrial or government research laboratory. This summer, ACS will be hosting a nationwide Virtual Summer Camp. Approximately 450 students will be selected to participate in the 4-week program, starting Monday, June 21, and ending Friday, July 30.

Project SEED fosters nurturing and supportive relationships between high school students and the scientific community, a relationship that can be vital to a student during the transition from high school to college.  SEED students are encouraged to enroll at UMES and pursue a major in the sciences.  Should a SEED student choose this route, he or she will be eligible for a SEED scholarship to help meet the financial obligations of college at UMES.

The application will be open from March 22 to April 26, with parent consent due by or before April 30.
