Lillian Pennypacker
Visiting Lecturer

Lillian is an interdisciplinary artist, educator, curator and a Maryland Native. She grew up in a family of artists and has worked in a variety of mediums including painting, drawing, photography and sculpture.
Her primary practice is sculptural and inspired by the Baroque, faux marbling technique of Scagliola. Scagliola is a composite material, made primarily of plaster and dry pigment. Once cured, the surface is treated and sealed with wax, creating a stone-like surface. These artworks speak to a familial history as an American Italian, and a visual language that expresses the complexities, beauty and resilience of grief.
Her artwork has been included in several recent solo and group exhibitions across the US and shown internationally. Lillian has recently exhibited in a solo exhibition at the High Street Gallery, as well as group exhibitions at the Circle Gallery and the Earl Gallery at Maryland Hall. She received an MFA in Interdisciplinary Studio Art from the School of the Museum of Fine Arts at Tufts University. She also holds a BA in Fine Arts from the American University of Rome, where she graduated as Summa Cum Laude.
