Sharps Disposal Guidance

Sharps include needles, syringes with attached needles, scalpels, lancets, razor blades, and other objects capable of puncturing or cutting the skin. Proper handling and disposal of sharps are essential to prevent injuries and exposure to hazardous biological materials. Sharps contaminated with biological materials must be disposed of in approved sharps containers in accordance with the University’s biological waste procedures. Once sharps are ready for pick up please submit a work order through the physical plant.
