The University of Maryland Eastern Shore (UMES) does not currently maintain an active Radiation Safety Program. UMES has been decommissioned by the Maryland Department of the Environment and does not possess authorization for the use, possession, storage, or transfer of radioactive materials. Accordingly, activities involving regulated radioactive materials are not permitted at this time.
As the University continues to expand its academic, research, and healthcare-related programs, future activities may require the establishment of a Radiation Safety Program and the acquisition of appropriate regulatory authorizations. This page is reserved for future program information and will serve as a resource for radiation safety requirements, regulatory compliance, licensing, and program implementation planning should such activities be authorized.
