Graduate Checklist

Congratulations! Now that you have submitted for your graduation application and been approved, here is the checklist outlining your next steps.

As a degree candidate, here’s what you need to know—and do—to assure an enjoyable commencement day. Select and click each highlighted link for more information and dates.

Other things to consider:

  • All checklist items requiring your attention are in the graduation section under My Academics on your HAWKWeb Student Center.  Any other questions or concerns can also be directed via email to: graduation@umes.edu.
  • Meet with your advisor to ensure you have met your degree requirements for participating in commencement and degree conferral
  • Apply for graduation 
  • Review and provide your guests with commencement ceremony information
  • Tickets pick up start date and times will be announced in email and updated on the website and will be available until rehearsal. Each graduation candidate will be eligible for 5 guest tickets. On Commencement day tickets can be picked up with a limited time in the Student Services Center Ballroom.

  • Avoid overcrowding in the arena, arrange to meet your guests on the outside of the Hytche Athletic Center 

Commencement Decorum Statement

The University of Maryland Eastern Shore is committed to honoring the accomplishments of all graduates in a respectful and dignified manner. To ensure the integrity of the ceremony and the comfort of all participants and guests, we ask that graduates and attendees maintain appropriate decorum throughout the event.

Disruptive behavior, inappropriate attire, noise makers, objects that cause obstructions from others view or actions that interfere with the ceremony or detract from the experience or safety of others will not be tolerated. To ensure every graduate’s name can be heard and everyone can enjoy this special moment, artificial noisemakers, including but not limited to air horns, clap/clackers, bullhorns, whistles and or cowbells, are not permitted at the commencement ceremony. The university reserves the right to remove any individual from the commencement line or ceremony whose conduct does not align with these expectations.
