Actual costs will vary based on housing, insurance coverage, transportation, personal circumstances and clinical-placement needs.
Additional Costs & Funding
Additional Expenses to Consider
Students may incur costs for required technology, clinical instruments, uniforms, personal protective equipment, immunizations, rabies vaccination and titers, background checks, drug screening, professional memberships, licensing examinations and other program requirements.
The DVM program includes clinical education at affiliated locations. Students may be responsible for transportation to clinical sites and, depending on the placement, temporary housing or other travel-related expenses. Detailed clinical-placement cost information will be provided before students begin clinical rotations.
Financial Aid
Eligible students may be considered for federal student aid and other financing options in accordance with federal law, university requirements and individual eligibility.
Federal loan programs, borrowing limits, interest rates and repayment provisions are subject to change. Federal student aid may not cover every student’s full cost of attendance. Applicants are strongly encouraged to consult the UMES Office of Student Financial Aid and evaluate any potential funding gap before accepting an offer of admission.
Students seeking federal aid must complete the Free Application for Federal Student Aid and satisfy all applicable eligibility and documentation requirements.
Scholarships
UMES SVM anticipates offering a limited number of competitive scholarships, subject to available funding. Scholarship criteria, application procedures, award amounts, renewal requirements and notification dates will be published when finalized. Applicants should not assume that scholarship assistance will cover the full cost of attendance.
Students are also encouraged to explore external scholarships, service-based programs and veterinary loan-repayment opportunities.
